The Confrontation
It remains quiet for seconds. The sound of footsteps getting closer scares Gabbie. Suddenly there’s this evil laugh. Gabbie recognizes this laugh instantly and her blood begins to boil. She slowly stands up straight. The person with the gun walks up to her. “Margret”, Gabbie says under her breath. Margret now looks Gabbie straight in the eyes. “Gabbie, oh Gabbie… Oh Gabbie… Here we meet again”, she tells laughing. Gabbie tries to untie Angéla with her right hand, hoping Margret will not notice. “Tssk, I would not do that if I were you”, Margret tells Gabbie whilst pointing her gun at Gabbie’s hand. “You were always a failed project, Gabbie, you will never learn, will you?”, Margret adds. Gabbie scoffs. “At least I am not some random psycho old witch”, she answers. The bright, white smile from Margret quickly turns into a frowned face. She aims the gun towards Gabbie and shoots. The bullet hits a concrete barrier behind Gabbie. The echo of the impact is deafening and debris is flying around.
Gabbie covers her ears from the sound and crouches down behind the chair where Angéla is tied to. At that exact moment, Angéla starts to push her chair backwards against Gabbie’s body. Gabbie stands up and sees Miguel entering the room. Holding Cármen as a human shield in front of him. Margret laughs hysterically pointing the gun back at Gabbie. “Try to be clever again, missy…”, she says while cocking her gun again. Right at that moment, the whole room turns pitch black and a loud alarm blares. In that moment, Cármen manages to escape from the arms of Miguel, she runs towards Angéla and unties her arms and legs. Margret shoots in the dark, but misses again. “Girls, run!”, they hear Monica yell. She uses the flashlight of her phone to point the girls to where they should go. The three girls run towards her and run the same way as Gabbie, Cármen and Monica just entered the building. But now, with two tormentors behind them.
They quickly run towards the steel door that leads them towards Angéla. They push the door open and leave the factory. They climb over the demolished brick wall. “Quick, to the car!” Monica yells, but right at that moment Margret and Miguel open the factory doors. The car is too far to run to, unlock, get inside, start, turn around, and leave. Monica quickly realizes this and tells the girls to follow her. Into the dark woods bordering the property.
